THE VAN LIFE PROJECT
Home is where you park it
Van Life is a project that manifested out of wanderlust. From my office, I found myself living vicariously through the lives of nomads who had the courage and drive to walk away from a stable desk job and explore. These stories were a great source of creative inspiration and peace when I really needed it. I began illustrating campers, vans, and overland vehicles as an homage to those who live freely on the road.
Project Goals
Many Volkswagen’s later I’ve noted all the bits and pieces I would put into my own home on wheels. I’ve found a great resource of knowledge in the Van Life community and even attended a few gatherings. Design profits from partners like Vansteader, Overland Coffee Co, and many traveling patrons across the globe are all allocated toward my future travel goals.
Where to next?
When your van, truck, or camper doubles as your home there’s no amount of personality to be overlooked in an illustration–that hub cap you lost in Arizona or the dent you hooked backing out of a campsite in Queensland. Every vehicle has a story. I’ve since expanded the work to include anything on wheels that will get me one step closer to building my own story.
